About Us
The Southern Tier Community Center Story
Once the Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome County closed its doors in 2019, it was no secret that an individual, business, or organization needed to step up and purchase this pillar of the community.
The Children’s Home, which has been improving the lives of children and families for more than 100 years, saw a valuable opportunity to expand and strengthen our mission.

With the support of stakeholders and the community, the Children’s Home finalized the purchase of the former Boys & Girls Club of Western Broome County building on May 12, 2020 and marked its new era with a new name: “Southern Tier Community Center.”
Our goal was to revitalize the physical building, as well as expand child care, fitness, and community outreach programming. Nikki Post was hired as Director of the Southern Tier Community Center, and she continues to lead the center’s programs and development.
We have come a long way since 2020, but we’re not done making the STCC a one-of-a-kind place for all community members to enjoy. Major revitalization plans are still in the works and underway with support from local foundations.
Input from members, families, and community members is always welcome. Please reach out to schedule a tour and tell us what you would love to see and how we can be a good community partner.

Diversity Makes Us Stronger
The Southern Tier Community Center is a microcosm of our richly diverse area, and that diversity is the cornerstone of our everyday work and long-term mission.
We are committed to fostering a true community, with cultural awareness, diverse representation, inclusive programming, and equitable access at the center of everything we do. Join us in creating a space where everyone belongs, grows, and thrives together.
